Illinois State Treasurer Alexi Giannoulias wants to crack down on credit card companies that prey on college students by prohibiting giveaways and restricting access to student contact information.

Credit Crunch: The Sandwich Loophole
Treasurer Giannoulias supports responsible credit card marketing legislation that will close "the sandwich loophole" and make credit card contracts that target college students public information.

The legislation also makes any marketing contracts between a credit card company and a school or alumni association public, so you can see how much money they are making off of your debt.

SB1524 was introduced in February 2009 and is making its way through the state’s General Assembly.

Let your legislators know you support responsible credit card marketing and urge them to vote “Yes” on the Credit Card Marketing Act of 2009 today!
