In 2000 the Illinois State Treasurer's Office, with the help of various state organizations, compiled and distributed to all municipal treasurers in the State of Illinois a Municipal Treasurer’s Reference Manual. This manual was created to assist with your important and challenging job.

The manual’s purpose was to provide an extensive yet quick, convenient and handy reference guide for municipal treasurers. It has become an extremely useful tool not only for long serving treasurers but also newly elected treasurers, as well.

The manual has been updated due to changes in accounting procedures and legislation that pertain to municipal governments and it is now posted on our website, which makes it more accessible. You may refer to it as needed or print off a copy for your future use.

The Illinois Funds staff, our Legal Division, our Information Technology Division and the organizations listed below were instrumental in getting the manual updated. We hope this manual continues to be an important and useful tool for municipal treasurers throughout the State of Illinois.
